NGC 228 (also PGC 2563, UGC 458, MCG 4-2-48, ZWG 479.62 or IRAS00401 +2313) is a magnitude +13.9 face-on spiral galaxy located 341 million light-years away in the constellation Andromeda.
The galaxy was discovered by French astronomer Edouard Jean-Marie Stephan using a 80.01 cm (31.5 inch) reflector at the Marseille Observatory on the 10th October 1879.
