NGC 28 (also PGC 730 and AM 0007-571) is a magnitude +13.8 elliptical galaxy located about 430 million light years in the constellation Phoenix.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflecting telescope at Feldhausen, Claremont, Cape Town on the 28th October 1834.
