NGC 59 (also ESO 539-4, MCG -4-1-26 and PGC 1034) is a magnitude +12.1 lenticular galaxy located 17 million light-years away in the constellation Cetus.
The galaxy was discovered by American astronomer Ormond Stone using a 66 cm (26-inch) f/14.9 Alvan Clark refractor at the Leander-McCormick observatory at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia, on the 10th November 1885.
