NGC 2482 (also OCL 653 and ESO 494-SC3) is a magnitude +7.3 open star cluster located about 4,380 light-years away in the constellation Puppis.
The open cluster was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at at Datchet, Berkshire, on the 20th November 1784.
