NGC 431 (also PGC 4437, UGC 776, MCG 5-4-2, GWT and GWT 502.8 501 132) is a magnitude +12.9 lenticular galaxy located 238 million light years away in the constellation Andromeda.
The galaxy was discovered by English astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road in Slough, Berkshire, on the 22nd November 1827.
