NGC 1786 (also ESO 56-SC39) is a magnitude +10.9 globular star cluster located in the Large Magellanic Cloud in the constellation Dorado.
The cluster was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Capetown on the 26th November 1834.
