NGC 255 (also PGC 2802, MCG -02-03-017, IRAS 00452-1144) is a magnitude +11.9 barred spiral galaxy located 73 million light-years away in the constellation Cetus.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) reflecting telescope at Clayhall Farm House in Old Windsor on the 27th November 1785.
