NGC 2459 is a magnitude +12.0 open cluster (group of 5 stars) located 4240 ± 196 light-years away in the constellation Canis Minor.
The cluster was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum telescope at Clayhall Farm House in Old Windsor, on the 26th December 1785.
