NGC 2798 (also UGC 4905, IRAS09141 +4212, MCG 7-19-55, KCPG 195A, GWT 209.45, KUG 0914 +422 A, ARP 283, VV 50 or PGC 26232) is a magnitude +12.0 barred spiral galaxy located 77 ±6 million light-years away in the constellation Lynx. The galaxy is gravitationally interacting with the neighbouring galaxy NGC 2799: these two galaxies are listed as Arp 283 in the Atlas of peculiar galaxies.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 14th January 1788.
