NGC 3342 (also NGC 3332, UGC 5807 and PGC 31768) is a magnitude +12.3 elliptical galaxy located 265 million light-years away in the constellation Leo.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm(18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflecting telescope at Datchet, Berkshire, on the 18th January 1784. The galaxy was rediscovered by Herschel in 1796 and relisted as NGC 3332.
