NGC 2498 (also UGC 4142, MCG 4-19-15, ZWG 118.34, IRAS 07566 +2507 and PGC 22403) is a magnitude +13.4 almost face-on barred spiral galaxy located 217 million light-years away in the constellation Gemini.
The galaxy was discovered by French astronomer Édouard Jean-Marie Stephan using a 80.01 cm (31.5 inch) reflecting telescope at the Marseille Observatory on the 19th January 1885.
