NGC 2206 (also ESO 489-26, MCG -4-15-19, UGCA 123, AM 0614-264, IRAS 06140-2644, and PGC 18736) is a magnitude +12.1 inclined barred spiral galaxy located 289 million light-years away in the constellation Canis Major.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 Inch) reflecting telescope at Feldhausen, Claremont, Cape Town, on the 20th January 1835.
