NGC 2263 (also ESO 490-19, MCG -4-16-14, IRAS 06364-2448 and PGC 19355) is a magnitude +12.1 barred spiral galaxy located 126 million light-years away in the constellation Canis Major.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 Inch) reflecting telescope at Feldhausen in Wynberg, Cape Town on the 20th January 1835.
