NGC 2587 (also OCL 706 and ESO 431-SC7) is a magnitude +9.2 open cluster located in the constellation Puppis.
The cluster was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) reflecting telescope at Feldhausen, Claremont, Cape Town, on the 22nd January 1835.
