NGC 2849 (also OCL 756 and ESO 314-SC13) is a magnitude +12.5 open cluster located in the constellation Vela.
The cluster was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) reflecting telescope at Feldhausen, Claremont, Cape Town, on the 22nd January 1835.
