NGC 4643 (also UGC 7895, MCG 0-33-5, ZWG 15.8, IRAS12407 +0215 and PGC 42797) is a magnitude +11.1 barred lenticular galaxy located 61 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) reflecting telescope at Datchet, Berkshire, on the 24th January 1784.
