NGC 2596 (also IRAS 08245+1726, MCG 3-22-13, UGC 4419 and PGC 23714) is a magnitude +13.4 spiral galaxy located 273 million light-years away in the constellation Cancer.
The galaxy was discovered by German astronomer Albert Marth using a 121.92 cm (48 inch) reflector at William Lassell's Tigné Point observatory in Sliema, Malta, on the 26th January 1865.
