NGC 1646 (also MCG -1-13-3, 2ZW 22, 2MASX J04442354-0831521 and PGC 15914) is a is a magnitude +13.0 lenticular galaxy located 220 ±16 million light-years away in the constellation Eridanus. The galaxy is close to the star 56 Eridani. NGC 1646 may be a pair of galaxies; a compact galaxy or tidal tail can be seen, but this may be a non-existent object.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) reflecting telescope at Clayhall Farm House in Old Windsor on the 30th January 1786.
