NGC 4580 (also UGC 7794, MCG 1-32-117, GWT 42,183, VCC 1730, IRAS12352 0538 and PGC 42174) is a magnitude +11.8 face-on barred spiral galaxy located 48 million light-years (25.6 million parsecs) away in the constellation Virgo.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) reflecting telescope at Clayhall Farm House in Old Windsor on the 2nd February 1786.
