NGC 3223 (also IC 2571, ESO 375-12, MCG -6-23-23, IRAS10193-3400 and PGC 30308) is a magnitude +11.0 barred spiral galaxy located 35.459 million parsecs (116 million light-years) away in the constellation Antlia.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) reflecting telescope at the Cape of Good Hope on the 2nd February 1835. The galaxy was rediscovered by Lewis Swift in 1897 and listed as IC 2571.
