NGC 2538 (also UGC 4266, MCG 1-21-19, GWT 31.67, IRAS08087 0347 or PGC 22962) is a magnitude +12.7 face-on barred spiral galaxy located 184 million light-years away in the constellation Canis Minor.
The galaxy was discovered by French astronomer Édouard Jean-Marie Stephan using a 80.01 cm (31.5 inch) reflecting telescope at the Marseille Observatory on the 2nd February 1877.
