NGC 2247 (also CED 81 and OCL 575) is a magnitude +8.5 reflection nebula located 2.480 light-years away in the constellation Monoceros.
The nebula was discovered by Irish astronomer R. J. Mitchell, assistant to William Parsons, 3rd Earl of Rosse, using a 182.88 cm (72 inch) speculum reflector at Birr Castle on the 14th February 1857.
