NGC 2294 (also IRAS 06478+3335, MCG 6-15-14 and PGC 1972) is a magnitude +13.8 elliptical galaxy located 235 million light-years away in the constellation Gemini.
The galaxy was discovered by George Johnstone Stoney, assistant astronomer to Irish astronomer William Parsons, using a 182.88 cm (72 inch) f/8.8 speculum reflector at Birr Castle on the 22nd February 1849.
