NGC 5493 (also UGCA 386, MCG-01-36-013 or PGC 50670) is a magnitude 11.4 spiral galaxy located 124 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo. The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) Reflector on the 22nd February 1787.
