NGC 3697 (also NGC 3697A, MCG 4-27-42, UGC 6479 and PGC 35347) is a magnitude +12.3 barred spiral galaxy located 288 million light-years away in the constellation Leo.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 24th February 1827.
