NGC 4818 (also IRAS 12542-0815, MCG -1-33-57 and PGC 44191) is a magnitude +11.3 barred spiral galaxy located 49 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Clayhall Farm House in Old Windsor on the 3rd March 1786.
