NGC 2571 (also Cr 181, OCL 701 and ESO 431-SC5) is a magnitude +7.0 open cluster located 4,377 light-years away in the constellation Puppis.
The cluster was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 3rd March 1793.
