NGC 2282 (also IC 2172 and CED 87) is a magnitude +11.6 reflection nebula located 5545 light-years away in the constellation Monoceros.
The nebula was discovered by American astronomer Edward Barnard using a 15.24 cm (6 inch) refractor on the 3rd March 1886. The nebula was rediscovered by Edward Barnard in the 1890's and relisted as IC 2172.
