NGC 2749 (also MCG 3-23-36, UGC 4763 and PGC 25508) is a magnitude +11.8 elliptical galaxy located 192 million light-years away in the constellation Cancer.
The galaxy was discovered by German astronomer Heinrich Louis d'Arrest using the 27.94 cm (11 inch) f/17.5 Merz-Refractor at the Copenhagen Observatory on the 5th March 1862.
