NGC 2942 (also RAS 09361 3413, MCG 6-21-65, UGC 5140 and PGC 27527) is a magnitude +12.6 spiral galaxy located 203 million light-years away in the constellation Leo Minor.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 6th March 1828.
