NGC 2566 (also ESO 495-3, IRAS 08166-2520, MCG -4-20-8, UGC A 138 and PGC 23303) is a magnitude +11.0 barred spiral galaxy located 75 million light-years away in the constellation Puppis.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Datchet, Berkshire, on the 6th March 1785.
