NGC 3970 (also MCG -2-30-41 and PGC 37425) is a magnitude +13.5 lenticular galaxy located 264 million light-years away in the constellation Crater.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 9th March 1828.
