NGC 2688 (also MCG 8-16-40 and PGC 25048) is a magnitude +15.8 lenticular galaxy located 717 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major. In the sky it is roughly 2' to the east of galaxy NGC 2689.
The galaxy was discovered by astronomer R. J. Mitchell using a 182.88 cm (72 inch) speculum reflector at Birr castle on the 11th March 1858.
