NGC 2779 (also MCG 6-20-44 and PGC 25958) is a magnitude +15.0 lenticular galaxy located 97 million light-years away in the constellation Lynx.
The galaxy was discovered by Anglo-Irish astronomer George Stoney using a 182.88 cm (72 inch) speculum reflector at Birr castle on the 13th March 1850.
