NGC 5056 (also IRAS 13138+3112, MCG 5-31-166, UGC 8337 and PGC 46180) is a magnitude +13.0 spiral galaxy located 257 million light-years away in the constellation Coma Berenices.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Datchet, Berkshire, on the 13th March 1785.
