NGC 5993 (also IRAS 15426+4116, MCG 7-32-50, UGC 10007 and PGC 55918) is a magnitude +13.2 barred spiral galaxy located 440 million light-years away in the constellation Boötes.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 18th March 1787.
