NGC 2844 (also IRAS 09186+4021, MCG 7-19-64, UGC 4971 and PGC 26501) is a magnitude +12.8 spiral galaxy located 68 million light-years away in the constellation Lynx.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 18th March 1787.
