NGC 5487 (also IRAS 14072+0818, MCG 1-36-21 and PGC 50537) is a magnitude +14.0 barred spiral galaxy located 336 million light-years away in the constellation Boötes.
The galaxy was discovered by American astronomer George Mary Searle using a 38.1 cm (15 inch) refractor at the Harvard Observatory, on the 22nd March 1868.
