NGC 3312 (also IC 629, ESO 501-43, IRAS 10346-2718, MCG -4-25-39 and PGC 31513) is a magnitude +11.9 spiral galaxy located 133 million light-years away in the constellation Hydra.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at the Cape of Good Hope on the 26th March 1835. The galaxy was rediscovered by Guillaume Bigourdan in February 1887 and relisted as IC 629.
