NGC 4346 (also MCG 8-23-16, UGC 7463 and PGC 40228) is a magnitude +11.2 lenticular galaxy located 35 million light-years away in the constellation Canes Venatici.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 1st April 1788.
