NGC 5226 (also PGC 47877) is a magnitude +15.8 spiral galaxy located 337 million light years away in the constellation Virgo.
The galaxy was discovered by Danish-Irish astronomer Johann Louis Emil Dreyer using a 182.88 cm (72 inch) speculum reflector at Birr Castle on the 5th April 1877.
