NGC 4189 (also IC 3050, IRAS 12112+1342, MCG 2-31-54, UGC 7235 and PGC 39025) is a magnitude +11.7 face-on spiral galaxy located 97 million light-years away in the constellation Coma Berenices.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Datchet, Berkshire, on the 8th April 1784. The galaxy was rediscovered by Arnold Schwassmann in November 1900 and relisted as IC 3050.
