NGC 5383 (also IRAS 13550+4205, MCG 7-29-23, UGC 8875 and PGC 49618) is a magnitude +11.4 face-on barred spiral galaxy located 104 million light-years away in the constellation Canes Venatici.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 9th April 1787.
