NGC 5214 (also MCG 7-28-30, UGC 8531 and PGC 47675) is a magnitude +13.6 face-on spiral galaxy located 371 million light-years away in the constellation Canes Venatici.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 9th April 1787.
