NGC 4704 (also IRAS 12464+4211, MCG 7-26-54, UGC 7972 and PGC 43288) is a magnitude +13.7 face-on barred spiral galaxy located 374 million light-years away in the constellation Canes Venatici.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 9th April 1787.
