NGC 5136 (also IC 888, IRAS 13223+1359, MCG 2-34-15 and PGC 46905) is a magnitude +14.0 elliptical galaxy located 306 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Datchet, Berkshire, on the 12th April 1784. The galaxy was rediscovered by Lewis Swift in May 1889 and relisted as IC 888.
