NGC 3558 (also MCG 5-27-8 and PGC 40160) is a magnitude +13.8 elliptical galaxy located 443 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major.
The galaxy was discovered by German astronomer Heinrich Louis d'Arrest using a 27.94 cm (11 inch) f/17.5 Merz-Refractor at the Copenhagen Observatory on the 15th April 1866.
