NGC 5143 (also MCG 6-30-5 and PGC 46918) is a magnitude +15.8 spiral galaxy located 267 million light-years away in the constellation Canes Venatici.
The galaxy was discovered by Irish astronomer R. J. Mitchell, assistant to Lord Rosse III, using a 182.88 cm (72 inch) speculum reflector at Birr Castle on the 17th April 1855.
