NGC 4547 (also MCG 10-18-69 and PGC 41896) is a magnitude +14.5 elliptical galaxy located 590 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 17th April 1789.
