NGC 4809 (also Arp 277, IRAS 12523+0255, MCG 1-33-22, UGC 8034 and PGC 43969) is a magnitude +13.8 irregular galaxy located 42 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo.
The galaxy was discovered by Irish astronomer R. J. Mitchell, assistant to William Parsons, 3rd Earl of Rosse, using a 182.88 cm (72 inch) speculum reflector at Birr castle on the 18th April 1855.
